My Favorite Books About Grandparents
By Eugenia Vela
Have you ever noticed all these goofy holidays that keep popping up? Any given day, it could be National Bubble Wrap Appreciation or National Punctuation Day. Listen, both of those things are important, but is it necessary to have a day dedicated to them around the nation?! One major holiday that I’ve come to love, though, is Grandparent’s Day! Now, I know it’s behind us, but grandparents are always worth celebrating – plus, with fall and winter holidays around the corner, it’s the perfect time to spread the grandparent love with your littles. And let me tell ya, there’s quite a few beautiful books that honor these special people in your life, and I’m going to be sharing some of my personal favorites.
THE TRUTH ABOUT GRANDPARENTS / GRANDMA’S PURSE / DRAWN TOGETHER

I think fall is my favorite season to dress for. Rich earth tones, a great pair of denim, cozy layers and the prettiest tote and oxfords combo…I feel my best in outfits like this one! Y’all know I’m a sucker for that yummy saddle, tan, caramel color – it’s warm and relaxed, making it easy to pair with just about anything hanging in my closet. Anyone else SO ready for fall? Cooler, crisp weather, hot coffee, cozy sweaters paired with ankle booties…and of course, enjoying some time outdoors soaking up the magical new season! We’re still in triple digits in Austin (omg!), but when

There’s just something about a new season of life that makes you want to change things up. Now that we have Jude, I see the functionality of our house differently. Can our sofa withstand a couple of kiddos? Is that rug soft enough for crawling? Will our blinds survive Watson freaking out when the postman rings the doorbell? (Spoiler: we’re on our third set of blinds…). I’ve loved our current living room setup, but when I dream up living room furniture that will stick around as our family continues to grow, a sectional sofa and more durable chairs come to mind. Within the last 10 months, we added a 95lb dog and baby to our family…which means big changes in this small house! Having beautiful furniture that’s created with pets and kids in mind is exactly what we need…
Since becoming a mom, there is nothing more important to me than spending quality time with my baby. I juggle being a full time mama and a full time blogger – so I will take every free moment I get to soak up cuddles, hugs and kisses with my sweet boy. With so much going on in my brain at all times (“don’t forget to email that brand back!” or “we’re almost out of diaper wipes” or “oops, I forgot to pump before his next meal!”), checking things off my to-do list so that I can be totally present with Jude is top priority these days.
One thing I’ve realized over the years about my style: I. Love. Overalls. They’re easy to throw on, they’ve got that relaxed vibe and when they fit just right, you feel like a million bucks in them. When I saw
If fall in your city means 95 degree temperatures, then I am right there with you! As a blogger, I am guilty of smiling as I pose in cozy cardigans and fleece joggers…when in reality I am dying a slow and painful death melting in triple digits and daydreaming of nothing more than an ice cold margarita. Now if that mental image doesn’t scream “fall!” then I don’t know what does haha! 😉 In Austin, fall can mean a tank top and shorts or flowy dress…this city sort of skips fall and goes straight to winter (…and our winter could technically be another city’s fall given that we rarely hit below 50 degrees…). What I’m trying to say is – regardless of the season, you can dress in whatever you’re loving, while keeping the latest seasonal trends in mind. Bohemian, pretty prairie style is something we’ll be seeing a lot of this fall, and this
