Ohh ya know, pregnancy just casually did a number on my body for nine months…and nine weeks postpartum, I am finally in a solid fitness routine to get my body back in shape! I realize I may never look like I used to pre-baby, but I am certainly ready to feel strong and build my endurance back up again. I put on 40lbs while pregnant with Jude and I’ve still got about 10lbs to shed to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (…and to fit into my old wardrobe haha! …Let’s be honest, that’s a major motivator right there…!). Our postpartum bodies are pretty fragile, so I’ve slowly been getting into my fitness rhythm – here’s what I’m doing (…and what I’m wearing, too!)…
If there’s one thing that makes me feel less bloated and provides an extra boost of energy these days, it’s getting in my daily workout. Though I can’t “go hard” like I used to pre-pregnancy, I have discovered one thing that makes me feel confident and strong…
PS. Hey cutie Watson in this post! As soon as he hears me grab the leash, he is sprinting to get out the door, ha! read more

A big thank you to Finish Line for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.
Anyone else all about a cute workout outfit and an awesome pair of running shoes? As fitness becomes a bigger part of my weekly routine, I am constantly on the lookout for practical and fashionable workout clothing – and shoes! I’m excited to partner with Finish Line today and give you the low down on these Under Armour running kicks! (Psst…they’re currently on major sale, Y-A-Y!).
Hey ladies! Soo…as you all know, in 2016 one of my big goals was to become more active and dive deeper into fitness! (…or maybe just scratch the surface? Not gonna put too much pressure on myself, ha!). Here’s the thing…not only are these warmer months upon us (and one of my absolute favorite activities is swimming), but I’ve got a wedding to prep for…which means if there’s any year to get motivated to feel my best, it’s definitely this one! Given that Blake sometimes reads my blog posts, I can’t tell you for certain whether or not I am wearing a sleeveless wedding gown…however, I can tell you that I’ve been doing a lot more arm workouts than I normally ever would…soo..deduct what you must! 😉
Hi gals! Me oh my a workout post already?! True story: I’ve gone running AND did conditioning exercises for THREE days in a row now…feeling really good about this whole New Year’s resolution to be more active thing…sans the amount of soreness I feel right now… (literally could barely get out of bed this morning..it’s a good sore though, you know?). Anyhoo! I decided to put together some fun ideas of suuuper cute workout clothes (seriously, are these not adorable?!) because as we all know, there’s nothing like rocking gorgeous new workout pants and a ridiculously precious strappy back sports bra to get you in the mood to get your booty off the sofa and into the gym. …Or at the very least you can look really cool as you hit up Starbucks and run some errands on the weekend, right? 😉 Yep…that’s half of Austin for ya, ha!
Anyone else SO ready for fall? Cooler, crisp weather, hot coffee, cozy sweaters paired with ankle booties…and of course, enjoying some time outdoors soaking up the magical new season! We’re still in triple digits in Austin (omg!), but when Backcountry asked me to share a few of my favorite pieces for fall, I couldn’t help but jump on this one. For one, TONS of adorable long sweaters to layer up and wear over leggings with booties (…cute and SO comfy!), and two, loads of outdoor gear to pack for a day spent outside. Over the weekend I grabbed my sister, made us a couple of oat milk lattes for the road, rented a canoe down at Lady Bird Lake and took my new fall goodies for a spin…and it was the best day! read more
Ohh a good athleisure outfit…it serves two purposes: one is that perhaps simply wearing workout gear will encourage a stop at the gym throughout the day (…perhaps being the key word, ha!) and two, you feel pretty and put together, but in reality you’re extremely comfortable and get to enjoy the best of both worlds. I know I talk about mom style all the time these days…but I’ve never worn workout gear more in my life than since becoming a mama. I’m bending, I’m snapping (literally, I am snapping constantly…Jude loves when you sing and make a beat for him haha), I’m on the go and love nothing more than to feel like a fully charged human. And sometimes looking like a fully charged human is just as good as feeling like one these days, ha! Which is where I turn to my friends over at Trunk Club – my stylist, Maddie, created an amazing Trunk this month and filled it with the cool, versatile athleisure pieces to take you from a workout to a quick coffee run and beyond. I know y’all hear me talk about Trunk Club all the time, and it’s because this service is total game changer…especially for busy moms like me!
My how time flies! Our little guy is already four months old! Actually…as I write this, he’s 4.5 months old now (ah!). We’ve been busy bees over here with Jude. He’s rolling over, discovered his hands (and he would tell you they’re delicious), has graduated from the Solly wrap and we’re not onto our Ergo carrier (…and my back is thanking me for this haha), and he’s got a new sleep routine! As for me, motherhood has gotten significantly better than since I last wrote about it (in this post) – the baby blues are long gone (though I still have my cry-from-stress moments at times…Jude continues to hate the car…!), I’m more confident in living by my “mother’s intuition” and have been embracing that voice in my head and feeling in my gut, and overall just feel like I’m “out of the fog” so-to-speak as our new normal has set in and is here to stay – and it’s been so much fun!
Last week I asked my Instagram readers what questions they’d like for me to answer about motherhood, postpartum, and our journey with Jude over the last 4-months…so here we go!
My current daydream on repeat lately: basking in the sun, a chilled glass of sauvignon blanc in hand (omg yes), the soothing sound of waves crashing and that “ooh I look good” feeling in a swimsuit that hugs you in all the right places. Grab your cat-eye sunnies, pull your hair into a top knot, add a turban-style silk scarf and sip that wine in style. And while this Amalfi Coast-inspired daydream might actually be a neighborhood-kiddie-pool-one-piece-ball-cap-workout-shorts-iced-coffee-by-the-gallon kinda reality, a girl can dream, right? 😉 Sharing 12 adorable swimsuits that’ll make you feel like a million bucks this summer…whether you’re in vacay mode or #realreality mode. From pretty prints (florals, rainbow, polka dots) to feminine silhouettes (high rise, dainty straps, ruffles), it’s time to enjoy the summer sunshine in any of these darling suits.
PS. So many of these are on super sale right now! one (60% off), three (under $50), four (50% off), six (50% off!!), eleven (reversible!)
Which one is your favorite? I’ve got my eye on two & eight…sucker for a high rise swimmie…and gingham is always so timeless!
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about putting together an outfit when you know you’ll be nursing your baby, it’s this: BUTTONS! They’re my secret weapon when it comes to shopping for nursing-friendly tops and dresses that make you feel GOOD. (…Because as my fellow mamas know, wearing workout gear on repeat can often be the norm…even when there’s no workout on the agenda!). Grab your favorite pair of high rise denim, some boyfriend shorts (comfort is key!) or even your maternity jeans – whatever bottoms you feel comfortable wearing, and pair with any of these cute tops. Whip out some classic sneakers or summer sandals for the dresses! Sharing more of my nursing secrets below…
