Ohh ya know, pregnancy just casually did a number on my body for nine months…and nine weeks postpartum, I am finally in a solid fitness routine to get my body back in shape! I realize I may never look like I used to pre-baby, but I am certainly ready to feel strong and build my endurance back up again. I put on 40lbs while pregnant with Jude and I’ve still got about 10lbs to shed to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (…and to fit into my old wardrobe haha! …Let’s be honest, that’s a major motivator right there…!). Hey ladies! Soo…as you all know, in 2016 one of my big goals was to become more active and dive deeper into fitness! (…or maybe just scratch the surface? Not gonna put too much pressure on myself, ha!). Here’s the thing…not only are these warmer months upon us (and one of my absolute favorite activities is swimming), but I’ve got a wedding to prep for…which means if there’s any year to get motivated to feel my best, it’s definitely this one! Given that Blake sometimes reads my blog posts, I can’t tell you for certain whether or not I am wearing a sleeveless wedding gown…however, I can tell you that I’ve been doing a lot more arm workouts than I normally ever would…soo..deduct what you must! 😉

Get Motivated! Fashionable Workout Clothes

Hi gals! Me oh my a workout post already?! True story: I’ve gone running AND did conditioning exercises for THREE days in a row now…feeling really good about this whole New Year’s resolution to be more active thing…sans the amount of soreness I feel right now… (literally could barely get out of bed this morning..it’s a good sore though, you know?). Anyhoo! I decided to put together some fun ideas of suuuper cute workout clothes (seriously, are these not adorable?!) because as we all know, there’s nothing like rocking gorgeous new workout pants and a ridiculously precious strappy back sports bra to get you in the mood to get your booty off the sofa and into the gym. …Or at the very least you can look really cool as you hit up Starbucks and run some errands on the weekend, right? 😉 Yep…that’s half of Austin for ya, ha!

How I Got Back Into Running

Hello and thank you for being here! It’s been a while since I’ve sat down to share a more personal post, but it certainly feels good to write in this space again. For those who have been following me on Instagram, I have shared quite a bit that running has become a big part of my life. I do want to start out by saying that every postpartum journey is different, every body is different. Metabolisms, energy level, free time, whether or not your kiddo will chill in a jogging stroller (…and if not, whether or not you are okay with turning up your headphones full blast to finish your run, haha ah!) – there are so many variables that will make my journey different than yours. So if anything, please throw comparison to the wayside, and rather, I hope this post inspires you to start or keep moving your body – for you.

How We’re Spending Our Fall Mornings

Not sure Jude has it in him to stop for a photo anymore, ha! We love watching him grow and feel out his coordination…it’s amazing how quickly he went from walking to climbing to running…and we are all for him getting those wiggles out. Now that Ezra has joined the fam, our morning wakeup call is around 6:30am. While at first it was a struggle (more coffee, please!), now we make a point to seize the day and take advantage of getting out while the rest of the city is still waking up. Zilker Park is usually packed with dogs, workout groups and people in general…so getting there before the rest of the city has its perks, like a good parking spot and the lawn all to ourselves!

38 Weeks: How I’m Staying Active

I can finally say it: we’re in the home stretch! Currently 38 weeks over here doing my best to stay calm, comfortable and as active as I possibly can. Two days ago the word to describe this stage of pregnancy would have been “miserable” haha ah! (Hey, when you’ve reached the stuffed sausage feeling of pregnancy, I give full complaining rights, ha!). But today is a new day and after a morning walk on a nearby neighborhood trail, I am feeling energized, less achy and overall, content. I know I’m a broken record with this mindset, but getting outside and breaking a sweat (even if waddling at snail pace, like me) really can do wonders on your mental and physical state. Pregnancy is not easy, but something as simple as a daily walk can make a HUGE difference in how your feel!
