Weekend Ready

olivia-watson-austin-texas-fashion-lifestyle-blogger-plant-flower-shop-sole-society-espadrille-sandals-1olivia-watson-austin-texas-fashion-lifestyle-blogger-plant-flower-shop-sole-society-espadrille-sandals-4Raise your hand if you’re ready for the weekend! (…I am currently raising both hands over here…!). This week was started off slow then ended up being quite a doozy. Blake and I leave for Japan in ONE week…and this realization didn’t hit me until last night. Thus, I stayed up late writing out all that I need to get done before we head out – which then resulted in me drinking three glasses of wine to ease the stresses. I don’t recommend that – I am paying for it today haha. Buuut all good, now that my list has been made I’ve divided it up (so as not to get overwhelmed again) and am taking charge and will do what I need to do each day until it’s aaaall completed. This time next week I’ll be a free bird all packed up and so ready for two weeks abroad with my favorite travel partner!

Until then, we’ve got some things to do around the house…like outfit the back patio! As I mentioned earlier this week, our patio renovation is all completed and now we are on the hunt for outdoor furniture and lots of plants to make the space feel extra cozy and inviting. Blake put up the festoon lighting last night and ohh I smiled so big as soon as I stepped outside to see it in action! It really is the patio of our dreams and I can’t wait to share it all with y’all (…that post to come in early late April / early May, stay tuned!). For now though, we ventured to the cutest Sledd Nursery in central Austin for a little plant shopping (…and outfit photos, obvs! 😉 ).

I grew up coming to this natural spring-fed pool, and even as Austin has completely transformed from a best kept secret to a giant metropolitan city, this spot forever feels like home to me.

Blush Ballet Flats

I am a big advocate of shoes that are both fashionable and practical, and these are SO perfect for everyday wear. Minnetonka Moccasin just launched their line of Anna Ballet Flats and let me tell ya, choosing just one color was honestly a challenging task, ha! These leather flats come in seven color and print options (I was torn between blush, leopard and classic black) and they’re made with a padded insole for extra comfort that can last you all day. Minnetonka is known for comfort (if you read the reviews on their products, they have a serious comfortable-shoe-lovers fan club!!) and these are no exception!

Throw on the cutest little eyelet dress and snap some pics! (…I mean, that’s totally “normal,” right? 😉 ). My job is super strange and lots of people stare while I shoot blog photos (*facepalm* – aaand no, it has never not felt award…four years into it!),  buuuut no lie, it’s really fun to share such darling clothing with y’all!! I feel like my everyday outfits consist of tees, jeans and cute kicks, so when I find a dress that I really love, it feels extra special! This one (and the others I am linking to at the end of this post) definitely have me excited for these warm spring days…and perhaps some fun date outfits, too! (…Hey Blake, are you reading this? 😉 ).

Elements of A Cozy Home

livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-elements-cozy-house-home-decor-bohemian-kimberlee-watson-art**Illustration by Kimberlee Watson

Blake and I moved into our first house back in April 2017 (more about that from this post) and I have learned SO much about home decor within that first year. For one, I learned the aesthetics I like and don’t like (I love a good, cozy vibe, I don’t looove super minimalist, modern pieces). I learned what Blake likes and doesn’t like (…I pick out what I think would work best for our style, then he approves. I’ve come to learn he’s less of a “french cottage” style kinda guy (…then again, have you ever met one that is? Hey, a girl can dream over here haha!) and more of a “I can tolerate some bohemian elements here and there” kinda guy haha). I appreciate that he wants to participate in the outfitting of each room, but I’d be lying if I told you a lot of our arguments didn’t stem from my love for a more feminine style versus his resistance to let our house become a girly-haven-Anthropologie-catalog-type of home. Either way, we’ve made lots of progress over the past year, learned a LOT about the aesthetic we can both happily agree on and have had so much fun turning our first house into a beautiful, cozy space we can finally (proudly!) call our home.

As I dive deeper into updating rooms in the house, there are a few elements that seem to be consistent in creating that cozy, bungalow vibe we love so much. Home decor has been such an exciting new world for me this past year – we lived in apartments for three years prior to living here and I never cared too much about furniture, rugs, all the fun stuff until we moved into our house. Truth be told, entering the world of home decor and interiors has been such a welcomed escape for me from the fashion industry! Literally, when I walk into Home Goods it’s like all my worries wash away, ha! Anyhoo – I’m excited to share the components both Blake and I love with y’all…and likely you’ve got a few of these things lying around the house already, it’s simply how you pair them that makes the difference! Hope you enjoy…

This week has been extra relaxed and I am looooving it. Normally I am running around like a mad woman during the week and counting down the minutes to the weekend…but this week just moved a lot slower and felt much less stressful. I even had a beer at 2pm yesterday while playing fetch with Watson on the new patio…just because! …And it was sooo nice. On that note – patio reveal coming next month, can’t wait to show y’all the transformation, it’s pretty drastic (in a really good way!). Lastly, tomorrow is my birthday (turning 28) and wowza I am excited to grab brunch with Blake (…we never do “brunch” in Austin but tomorrow he’s making an exception haha) and then we’re spending the rest of the day at the PGA Dell match happening in Austin. I will 100% be soaking up a day outside with my love and I can just feel it’s going to be the best one yet. Feeling lots of happy vibes this week and thankful for a solid 28 years of life!

Unrelated transition starting…now…! 😉 As the weather changes and we go from cooler, crisp mornings into heated afternoons – a cozy cardigan is the perfect transitional staple piece…and this one is a must (ohh that gorgeous blush color!).

This jumpsuit demands FULL. ATTENTION. Okay okay so it’s not really thaaat pressing… 😉 but FOR REALZ how freaking adorable is this thing?! Urban Outfitters has been killing the romper/jumpsuit game lately and I have become that crazy online shopper that visits the New Arrivals tab on the regular…but hey, my shopping addiction is to your benefit, right? …Just doing my homework over here!

Though Austin weather hasn’t yet decided if we’re full on ready for spring, I will take those small pockets of warmth and sunshine and most definitely wear my new jumpsuit!! (PS. If you follow me on the ‘ol gram or watched my Like To Know It chat, you probably saw me wearing this last week, but styled a little more festival-ish here…ohh the possibilities!).

Easy Vegetarian Ramen

vegetarian-ramen-noodle-soup-simple-easy-homemade-livvyland-blog-austin-lifestyle-blogger-recipe-idea-2By Jessica Lee

Ramen is one of the first foods I remember making on my own. My mom would let me pick from the many overly processed flavors at the supermarket. I’d go home, heat up a pot of water on the stove and place my brick of noodles inside. Once dissolved, I’d add that packet of flavoring (ahem, msg) and pat myself on the back for “making” my own meal.

Fast forward and I’m still making ramen but in a much more healthy way…

How’s your week going? I’m in full-on SXSW mode over here…hence my lack of blog posts in the past week! Last week I had the absolute honor of teaching an hour long class about blogging and OMG I was completely blown away by the turnout and incredible feedback from all of YOU! Y’all are the reason I am fueled to keep doing this crazy blogging thing…and meeting my readers in person sure is the most gratifying feeling. A very big virtual bear hug and thank you to everyone who came out to the event or sent me an encouraging DM on Instagram – it has all meant more than you know!
