If there’s one thing y’all know I love…it’s pants. Always high waist, sometimes straight leg, often cropped and a style that’s new to me (…and that I am now totally in love with…), wide leg! My sister shot this post and she was even completely sold and went out and scooped up a pair for herself THAT DAY. If that doesn’t tell ya how good these pants are, well then, hopefully by the end of this post you’ll be sold enough to join the wide leg trouser brigade. (…I just made that up…).

A Few Cozy Decor Updates

July 2018

I don’t know about you, but jumping into an ultra cozy bed sounds like the most amazing thing ever right about now. This week was a straight up d-o-o-z-y and I am very much looking forward to some quality lounge time…and you can find me riiiight there in that spot above, being slobbered on by Watson and with a giant cheesy grin on my face! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know that Blake and I recently updated our bedroom a bit – we switched to a king size bed and swapped out our old lamps (…although beloved!) for some bronze wall sconces (swoon!). I feel like such a grownup with the sconces haha. It’s almost like I should be reading the newspaper instead of scouring gossip websites (god bless you JustJared…you’ve kept me entertained for yeaaaars)…but nahh, I’ll stick to my ‘ol reliables! 😉 In addition to the headboard, lighting and sheets, we topped off the space with THE most beautiful lumbar pillows. Our rug has hints of orange throughout, so I thought opting for a mix of orange and cream pillows would be really pretty and soft…without adding more pink to the room (…thinking of Blake with this one, ha!). We also added a couple of seat cushions to our living room area (more on that further into this post…). Excited to share it all with y’all!

Healthy & Flavorful: Kale Rice Bowl

Have you heard about the restaurant Sqirl in LA? I’ve never been, but it’s one of those spots that you hear about all over the place — in food-centric magazines, on Instagram, from that one stylish friend who came back from a vacation in sunny California. The owner, Jessica Koslow, is one of those badass women who worked hard to pursue her dream of owning a restaurant, aka she’s kind of my hero.

So after scooping up her cookbook, Everything I Want To Eat, last week, I knew I needed to recreate one of her recipes for you guys. This Kale Rice Bowl is the most delicious bowl of health. I swapped out a poached egg for a hard-boiled egg because I had some on hand, but a poached egg or fried egg would also be really delicious here. And don’t skimp on the fresh dill!

My Happy Place

July 2018

Fresh coffee in hand, Watson to my right, a good book on the agenda and the comfiest dress you can imagine – this, my friends, is my happy place. Insert Blake onto the sofa next to me (…he’s behind the camera) and I’ve got myself an absolutely perfect morning (…or interchange coffee for wine and there’s one heck of an evening!). As I get older and we settle into our home, I find that I LOVE to live in this space we’ve created. I used to be the kind of person who got restless and would never consider myself a homebody…but as time has gone on, this is where I am happiest. It’s funny how much things can change within even just a year. A house, a dog, a new patio – we’re growing our roots here and it feels so good. Lots of love in this place!

Be More Human – Join The Movement

If there’s one thing that makes me stronger and mentally prepares me to tackle any challenge ahead, it’s routinely doing something active. Makeup off, hair pulled back, sneakers tied and ready to break a sweat! Whether I’m jamming to music that gets me pumped up, listening to a podcast that resonates and gives me a boost of positive energy, or simply brainstorming goals and feeling extra motivated work towards them (anyone else love that “me time” thinking when exercising?)…there’s just something about getting physical that brings out our best self. Feeling good starts from the inside out, and I’m loving Reebok’s new Be More Human movement to support that sentiment. Once laced up, where will these shoes take me? Nsale Try On Haul

In the midst of dozens of pages of products in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I’ve sorted through it all (no really…like, tons of pages…you’re welcome 😉 ) and found my absolute favorite, worth-adding-to-your-cart pieces. A classic black top for $15 (!!), cozy pajamas you can wear all year (and cozy slippers to go with them!), workout gear that lasts forever (the leggings I mention in this post had previously lasted me over eight years…and they’re on sale for $35!), denim under $55 and lots of fabulous shoes! I figured a try-on haul was the best way to share the goods with y’all, so you can see my selects in action – sooo here we go! (Ps. As y’all know, items sell like hot cakes in this sale so if you see something you like, definitely scoop it up asap… I had quite a few things I missed out on during the Early Access portion…lesson learned!).

Vermicelli Spring Rolls With Peanut Sauce

There’s a restaurant here in Austin called Elizabeth Street Cafe. It’s probably one of the most instagrammed restaurants in the city, but it’s not just aesthetically pleasing. The restaurant serves some of my favorite food in Austin. During the winter, I cozy up was a warm bowl of pho and then when summer comes around, I always order their fresh spring rolls.

Packed with tofu, fresh herbs, vermicelli noodles and more, these spring rolls are insanely delicious. So delicious in fact that I’ve been working on recreating them at home…
