Mama & Mini: Cozy Winter Style

Ohh the weather outside is…definitely COLD! We bundled up and hit the town for a little coffee date on Lake Austin. Jude fell asleep on our way to Mozart’s, so Blake and I enjoyed a coffee date just the two of us before the lil man woke up and was ready to MOVE outside. We’re just days away from 10 months over here and this boy is officially a wiggle worm. He is very vocal and let’s us know quiiiickly that he wants to be down and walking (with our help!). And while mom and dad are absolutely getting their steps in these days (and passing out before 9pm because of it, ha!), what a joy it has been to spend the holiday season together. Mozart’s forever has a special place in our hearts because Blake and I grew up coming here, it’s where he proposed and now we get to bring Jude to enjoy their yummy pastries, this view and the outdoors all at once. Such a lovely place to come as a family!

Cozy Cold Weather Gear

And while most days I’m not a huge fan of this combination (…dogs + rain = mud eeeverywhere in our house haha), this week was different because we totally embraced the crazy weather and it was maaagical. My sister and I spent an afternoon hiking down to Barton Creek (…the dogs stayed home haha). Mud, rain, cold wind…it was invigorating. We were both so happy! I know I say this all the time, but getting outside and spending time in nature really does revive the soul.

Thrifting with thredUP at JCPenney

livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-austin-texas-fashion-blogger-thred-up-jc-penny-dooney-bourke-handbag-1Are you into thrift shopping? #Sponsored Lately, my sister and I have had so much fun scoping out the cool secondhand stores around Austin. thredUP has been an online thrift brand we’ve both shopped for years and when we found out they were opening shops in 30 select JCPenney’s nationwide, we were pretty pumped to find one in a south Austin store just minutes away from my house. Blake watched Jude for a couple of hours while we got enjoy a coffee date and some thrift shopping! Needless to say, it was an afternoon very well spent and we left with some awesome finds.

Sharing some snapshots from our visit and a try-on haul of what I left with!

Finding Your Best Style

livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-austin-texas-fashion-lifestyle-blogger-madewell-wrap-dress-trunk-club-review-1livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-austin-texas-fashion-lifestyle-blogger-madewell-olive-skinny-jeans-striped-sweater-trunk-club-review-1A question I get asked frequently is, “how do you find your personal style?” My answer is always: I wear what feels most “me.” Which means, I buy pieces that fit into my lifestyle and make me feel confident and beautiful. I am not a girl about town attending trendy events, so I don’t wear swanky dresses or glittery heels – they’re simply not practical or worth investing in for me. What I am though, is a mom on the go, enjoying coffee dates with my little man and Blake and more often than not, attending some sort of family event every weekend (football season, birthdays, fam dinners…there’s always something going on!). I want to look put together, feel comfortable in whatever I’m wearing and be able to style an outfit quick…time is limited these days!

Best Fall Season Yet

Best fall season yet! Pretty certain every holiday this year will be our best one yet, thanks to one special little guy. Picking out pumpkins is always a fun annual activity, and this time was particularly adorable because I got to dress Jude in a matching mama and me outfit. Call me a dork, but man, I live for this stuff! Also…infant Patagonia vests?! I die!

If you’ve followed me on my blog or Instagram over the years, you’re likely familiar with my love for Fortress of Inca. For one, their HQ is in Austin and home to THE kindest folks behind the brand. Two, the shoes are such beautiful quality – ethically sourced and handmade in Peru. This is a brand that genuinely cares about every detail…from the design and fit, to the artisans who create the shoes, all the way to the packaging and of course their loyal followers and customers…it’s easy to see why my closet is full of FoI shoes – and why I’m so proud to represent them. As Blake and I say in our house, they’re “the tops” when it comes to a brand you want to wear and support!

Rich earth tones, a great pair of denim, cozy layers and the prettiest tote and oxfords combo…I feel my best in outfits like this one! Y’all know I’m a sucker for that yummy saddle, tan, caramel color – it’s warm and relaxed, making it easy to pair with just about anything hanging in my closet. Plus, it wears so well over time…making it an easy wardrobe staple for years to come. I’ve worn Nisolo shoes for over a year now (remember this post? Gah, still loving those shoes, too!) and I am so excited to share another favorite, the James Oxford, from their new Essentials Collection. It’s a lower priced collection of beautiful shoes created without cutting into the fair trade wages their producers earn. It’s a win/win for everyone, your feet included.

Cooler, crisp weather, hot coffee, cozy sweaters paired with ankle booties…and of course, enjoying some time outdoors soaking up the magical new season! We’re still in triple digits in Austin (omg!), but when Backcountry asked me to share a few of my favorite pieces for fall, I couldn’t help but jump on this one. For one, TONS of adorable long sweaters to layer up and wear over leggings with booties (…cute and SO comfy!), and two, loads of outdoor gear to pack for a day spent outside. Over the weekend I grabbed my sister, made us a couple of oat milk lattes for the road, rented a canoe down at Lady Bird Lake and took my new fall goodies for a spin…and it was the best day!

Must-Have Overalls

One thing I’ve realized over the years about my style: I. Love. Overalls. They’re easy to throw on, they’ve got that relaxed vibe and when they fit just right, you feel like a million bucks in them. When I saw this pair while clicking through the New Arrivals tab at ModCloth, I knew I had to give them a try. They showed up on my doorstep a few days later and as I slipped myself into them, I looked in the mirror and did a happy dance. I talk a lot about postpartum body image here and on my Instagram feed, and when you order something that just fits in all the right places, it’s totally worth that squeal of happiness and big cheesy grin. I couldn’t wait to share these with y’all…!
