The Cutest Under $30 Maxi Dress
If fall in your city means 95 degree temperatures, then I am right there with you! As a blogger, I am guilty of smiling as I pose in cozy cardigans and fleece joggers…when in reality I am dying a slow and painful death melting in triple digits and daydreaming of nothing more than an ice cold margarita. Now if that mental image doesn’t scream “fall!” then I don’t know what does haha! š In Austin, fall can mean a tank top and shorts or flowy dress…this city sort of skips fall and goes straight to winter (…and our winter could technically be another city’s fall given that we rarely hit below 50 degrees…). What I’m trying to say is – regardless of the season, you can dress in whatever you’re loving, while keeping the latest seasonalĀ trends in mind. Bohemian, pretty prairie style is something we’ll be seeing a lot of thisĀ fall, and thisĀ mustard yellow maxi dressĀ with a ruffle bottom totally fits the trend and is a staple you can wear now and into the next few months. The best part?Ā This $27 maxi dress comes in three colors and could easily be styled for cooler weatherĀ weather…simply add a leather or denim jacket and some ankle booties or mules!

A few weeks back we took our first family trip to San Diego and it was so wonderful! As first time parents, Blake and I were of course nervous about the flight with Judeā¦but he did SO well! After touching down in SD, we dropped our stuff at our Airbnb, threw on our suits and headed straight for the beach!

A magical summer afternoon in Austin: a light breeze is blowing, the sound of a flowing stream brings instant calm and the warm sun kisses my skin. A dip in the water with nothing but trees on the horizon is oh-so-good for the soul – and this tired mama could use a dose of nature to revive and reset. I sit on a rock with the water rushing around me, my eyes lightly closed and for a moment I am completely present. Listening, breathing, listening, breathing. I make a promise to myself that Iāll do this more often…

Last weekend Blake and I (ā¦and Jude!) woke up early to enjoy a morning at the Farmerās Market. We grabbed yummy local coffee (yāallā¦my mocha latte was $2.50! Unheard of in Austin, ha), scooped up some freshly picked wildflowers and chatted with the sweet vendors about their beautiful fruit and veggie assortments. It was such a lovely morning and made my heart super happy, as it felt like an āold Austinā type of outing. (Meaning, it didnāt feel ātrendyā ā it was genuinely pleasant). Jude quickly fell asleep in the front pack, so Blake and I had a mini morning date and got to reminisce about Austin and our childhoods in this city. The types of things we did with our parents as kiddos and weekend traditions we want to create with our own little family. We both love all the outdoorsy things Austin has to offer and fondly remember family days filled with local swimming holes, snow cone stands and mini festivals that popped up throughout the city. Walking around the farmerās market together felt a lot like those special times!

āWeāre not a regular fam, weāre a Nike fam!ā ā¦But in all seriousness, Blake said heād never be in a blog post with me unless it was for Nikeā¦and low and behold HERE we are! Nike is a brand we admire greatly in our house ā and itās the only label Blake wears proudly (not even jokingā¦itās 100% Nike shirts, shoes and track shorts for this guyā¦he refuses to wear any other sports brand). Given that Jude is a mini Blake (ā¦anyone else see the resemblance? Ha!), weāve been collecting our fair share of Nike onesies, too. So stinkinā adorable! ā¦And I thought dressing myself was funā¦nothing compares to dressing your baby! I mean, can we just take a minute for those precious
Life before Jude = leisurely hopping from a coffeehouse to a cute bar patio. Life after Jude = lucky if I make it to the Starbucks drive thru, ha! But in all seriousness, these days makeup is a rarity and if I put on real pants itās a big deal. When people used to tell me about āmom styleā I never thought twice about what that would mean once I became a mom myself. And now that I spend 24/7 caring for a three month old, I totally get what they mean! Youāve got to find pieces that make you feel good, are comfortable and practical. Now that Iām two sizes bigger since having a baby, I was in desperate need of an update and ready to invest in clothing that fits my new body. Did I mention the whole āitās extremely difficult to leave the houseā thing? Yeahā¦about thatā¦my trips to the mall are few and far between these days (ā¦and if I make it to the mall then Iām normally shopping for Jude and not myself). Which is where
