Everyday Chic
Hello there, gals! How’s your week going? I’m in full-on SXSW mode over here…hence my lack of blog posts in the past week! Last week I had the absolute honor of teaching an hour long class about blogging and OMG I was completely blown away by the turnout and incredible feedback from all of YOU! Y’all are the reason I am fueled to keep doing this crazy blogging thing…and meeting my readers in person sure is the most gratifying feeling. A very big virtual bear hug and thank you to everyone who came out to the event or sent me an encouraging DM on Instagram – it has all meant more than you know!
/ Sappy rant over! 😉 (…I feel like I’ve had so many of those lately…haha ah!). Onwards to this beautiful and classy everyday outfit idea!
jacket – SEZANE / jeans – URBAN OUTFITTERS / top – similar URBAN OUTFITTERS (mine is old) / shoes – GUCCI (lower priced, nearly identical version HERE) / handbag – CLARE V. / SUNGLASSES – CELINE / crescent necklace – MISSOMA

For starters, let’s forgive the humidity hair action going on in this post haha. Austin doesn’t know if it’s hot, cold, extra dry or super humid and my hair is paying the price lately! Second…what’s your “I feel most myself when I’m wearing…” outfit of choice? As you can tell from my blog and IG feed, I am a total jeans girl through and through…and this particular pair of high rise denim is one that gets worn more than the rest! Y’all know my love for stripes runs deep, and I truly can’t tell you how many times I have worn this cozy top in the last few months (…no lie it’s likely an embarrassing amount of times, ha!). Lastly…oh those good ‘ol cognac accessories I can’t seem to shake. I am officially embracing my love for this color everything and will no longer hold myself back from buying aaaaall the (tan) things!
…It’s that time of year again (…and today’s the last day!)…The Buy More Save More event at
What do you do to relax at home? As Blake and I are getting the hang of being dog parents, we’ve both found that lounging in bed has been a solid way to calm Watson down (…he instantly relaxes, it’s kind of amazing!) and gives us a little break from puppy training, too. We grab our books, pour some fresh coffee and soak up time with our cuddly pup! It’s become our weekend ritual lately (…and sometimes part of my daily routine when I need a sanity break, ha! Working from home means it’s tough to turn my brain off…!), and one of my very favorite things we do as a little family.

Ohh we are SO close to spring! It’s finally sunny in Austin today and I feel like my soul is revived a bit…over a week of miserable, rainy, cold, dark weather did quite a doozy on my mind…I’ve never experienced how deeply weather can effect my mood until this time around…and you can ask Blake, I was not a happy human to be around, haha ah! Anyone else feel the woes of grim weather? I feel like a lot of my friends have been feeling the same way lately.
Be still my heart. This pair of cropped flare denim is e v e r y t h i n g . I watched Clueless over the weekend and since then, I’ve been a bit more valley girl-esque than usual. I guess what was “valley girl” in the 90s is now “basic” in the 2000s…either way, sometimes it’s fun to let your brain go to mush for a bit and use terminology that is mainstream girl code. In other words, when I say these jeans are “e v e r y t h i n g” = THESE PANTS ARE FREAKIN’ AMAZING!

Ohh this camel coat…I just can’t get enough! I wasn’t so sure it’d be put to proper use living in Austin, however, it has proven to become a go-to in my wardrobe (…thanks to a rare, cold Texas winter!). While I am SO over the cold and very ready for spring everything (mostly sunshine…ohh how I miss that Vitamin D fix!), I am secretly still loving getting to wear all these beautiful layers. Needless to say, it’s been fun to enjoy winter styling this season!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you may have noticed that I have a slight obsession with all things camel, tan and cognac. When I look at my shoe shelf, it’s 90% tan and 10% black and olive – clearly, I’ve got a thing for earth tones and neutrals. I feel like browns are such approachable hues and soften a wardrobe (I love black but sometimes feel like it comes across as too harsh and not feel quite as “me”), while also making it easier to mix and match for years to come.
