Everyday Athleisure

Ohh a good athleisure outfit…it serves two purposes: one is that perhaps simply wearing workout gear will encourage a stop at the gym throughout the day (…perhaps being the key word, ha!) and two, you feel pretty and put together, but in reality you’re extremely comfortable and get to enjoy the best of both worlds. I know I talk about mom style all the time these days…but I’ve never worn workout gear more in my life than since becoming a mama. I’m bending, I’m snapping (literally, I am snapping constantly…Jude loves when you sing and make a beat for him haha), I’m on the go and love nothing more than to feel like a fully charged human. And sometimes looking like a fully charged human is just as good as feeling like one these days, ha! Which is where I turn to my friends over at Trunk Club – my stylist, Maddie, created an amazing Trunk this month and filled it with the cool, versatile athleisure pieces to take you from a workout to a quick coffee run and beyond. I know y’all hear me talk about Trunk Club all the time, and it’s because this service is total game changer…especially for busy moms like me!

A few weeks back we took our first family trip to San Diego and it was so wonderful! As first time parents, Blake and I were of course nervous about the flight with Jude…but he did SO well! After touching down in SD, we dropped our stuff at our Airbnb, threw on our suits and headed straight for the beach!

A magical summer afternoon in Austin: a light breeze is blowing, the sound of a flowing stream brings instant calm and the warm sun kisses my skin. A dip in the water with nothing but trees on the horizon is oh-so-good for the soul – and this tired mama could use a dose of nature to revive and reset. I sit on a rock with the water rushing around me, my eyes lightly closed and for a moment I am completely present. Listening, breathing, listening, breathing. I make a promise to myself that I’ll do this more often…

Last weekend Blake and I (…and Jude!) woke up early to enjoy a morning at the Farmer’s Market. We grabbed yummy local coffee (y’all…my mocha latte was $2.50! Unheard of in Austin, ha), scooped up some freshly picked wildflowers and chatted with the sweet vendors about their beautiful fruit and veggie assortments. It was such a lovely morning and made my heart super happy, as it felt like an “old Austin” type of outing. (Meaning, it didn’t feel “trendy” – it was genuinely pleasant). Jude quickly fell asleep in the front pack, so Blake and I had a mini morning date and got to reminisce about Austin and our childhoods in this city. The types of things we did with our parents as kiddos and weekend traditions we want to create with our own little family. We both love all the outdoorsy things Austin has to offer and fondly remember family days filled with local swimming holes, snow cone stands and mini festivals that popped up throughout the city. Walking around the farmer’s market together felt a lot like those special times!
Thank you Zappos for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.
“We’re not a regular fam, we’re a Nike fam!” …But in all seriousness, Blake said he’d never be in a blog post with me unless it was for Nike…and low and behold HERE we are! Nike is a brand we admire greatly in our house – and it’s the only label Blake wears proudly (not even joking…it’s 100% Nike shirts, shoes and track shorts for this guy…he refuses to wear any other sports brand). Given that Jude is a mini Blake (…anyone else see the resemblance? Ha!), we’ve been collecting our fair share of Nike onesies, too. So stinkin’ adorable! …And I thought dressing myself was fun…nothing compares to dressing your baby! I mean, can we just take a minute for those precious
