What’s Your Favorite Fall Activity?

livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-canoe-lady-bird-lake-austin-texas-lifestyle-fashion-blogger-backcountry-patagonia-tunic-yeti-rambler-2 livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-canoe-lady-bird-lake-austin-texas-lifestyle-fashion-blogger-backcountry-seychelles-deep-sea-ankle-booties-2Anyone else SO ready for fall? Cooler, crisp weather, hot coffee, cozy sweaters paired with ankle booties…and of course, enjoying some time outdoors soaking up the magical new season! We’re still in triple digits in Austin (omg!), but when Backcountry asked me to share a few of my favorite pieces for fall, I couldn’t help but jump on this one. For one, TONS of adorable long sweaters to layer up and wear over leggings with booties (…cute and SO comfy!), and two, loads of outdoor gear to pack for a day spent outside. Over the weekend I grabbed my sister, made us a couple of oat milk lattes for the road, rented a canoe down at Lady Bird Lake and took my new fall goodies for a spin…and it was the best day!

Everyday Athleisure

Ohh a good athleisure outfit…it serves two purposes: one is that perhaps simply wearing workout gear will encourage a stop at the gym throughout the day (…perhaps being the key word, ha!) and two, you feel pretty and put together, but in reality you’re extremely comfortable and get to enjoy the best of both worlds. I know I talk about mom style all the time these days…but I’ve never worn workout gear more in my life than since becoming a mama. I’m bending, I’m snapping (literally, I am snapping constantly…Jude loves when you sing and make a beat for him haha), I’m on the go and love nothing more than to feel like a fully charged human. And sometimes looking like a fully charged human is just as good as feeling like one these days, ha! Which is where I turn to my friends over at Trunk Club – my stylist, Maddie, created an amazing Trunk this month and filled it with the cool, versatile athleisure pieces to take you from a workout to a quick coffee run and beyond. I know y’all hear me talk about Trunk Club all the time, and it’s because this service is total game changer…especially for busy moms like me!

Motherhood: 4 Month Update

My how time flies! Our little guy is already four months old! Actually…as I write this, he’s 4.5 months old now (ah!). We’ve been busy bees over here with Jude. He’s rolling over, discovered his hands (and he would tell you they’re delicious), has graduated from the Solly wrap and we’re not onto our Ergo carrier (…and my back is thanking me for this haha), and he’s got a new sleep routine! As for me, motherhood has gotten significantly better than since I last wrote about it (in this post) – the baby blues are long gone (though I still have my cry-from-stress moments at times…Jude continues to hate the car…!), I’m more confident in living by my “mother’s intuition” and have been embracing that voice in my head and feeling in my gut, and overall just feel like I’m “out of the fog” so-to-speak as our new normal has set in and is here to stay – and it’s been so much fun!

Last week I asked my Instagram readers what questions they’d like for me to answer about motherhood, postpartum, and our journey with Jude over the last 4-months…so here we go!

Summer Swimwear

My current daydream on repeat lately: basking in the sun, a chilled glass of sauvignon blanc in hand (omg yes), the soothing sound of waves crashing and that “ooh I look good” feeling in a swimsuit that hugs you in all the right places. Grab your cat-eye sunnies, pull your hair into a top knot, add a turban-style silk scarf and sip that wine in style. And while this Amalfi Coast-inspired daydream might actually be a neighborhood-kiddie-pool-one-piece-ball-cap-workout-shorts-iced-coffee-by-the-gallon kinda reality, a girl can dream, right? 😉 Sharing 12 adorable swimsuits that’ll make you feel like a million bucks this summer…whether you’re in vacay mode or #realreality mode. From pretty prints (florals, rainbow, polka dots) to feminine silhouettes (high rise, dainty straps, ruffles), it’s time to enjoy the summer sunshine in any of these darling suits.

PS. So many of these are on super sale right now! one (60% off), three (under $50), four (50% off), six (50% off!!), eleven (reversible!)

Which one is your favorite? I’ve got my eye on two & eight…sucker for a high rise swimmie…and gingham is always so timeless!

Nursing Friendly Tops & Dresses

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about putting together an outfit when you know you’ll be nursing your baby, it’s this: BUTTONS! They’re my secret weapon when it comes to shopping for nursing-friendly tops and dresses that make you feel GOOD. (…Because as my fellow mamas know, wearing workout gear on repeat can often be the norm…even when there’s no workout on the agenda!). Grab your favorite pair of high rise denim, some boyfriend shorts (comfort is key!) or even your maternity jeans – whatever bottoms you feel comfortable wearing, and pair with any of these cute tops. Whip out some classic sneakers or summer sandals for the dresses! Sharing more of my nursing secrets below…

New Year, New Fitness Goals!

livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-austin-texas-lamar-bridge-maternity-pregnancy-workout-outfit-leggings-nordstrom-6livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-austin-texas-lamar-bridge-maternity-pregnancy-workout-outfit-leggings-nordstrom-nike-flyknit-epic-react-2New year, new list of goals to make! Fitness is generally at the top of everyone’s resolutions list, but given that I’m in the midst of giving myself some serious grace (35 weeks pregnant over here), let’s just say my goal is to simply remain active. I currently take a daily walk – anywhere from two to five miles – to ease my discomfort, get my heart rate up and of course, gain some mental clarity. I have no idea what my new fitness routine will be in just five to 10 weeks time (…I mean, I have definitely been pinning “post pregnancy” inspiration to my fitness board on Pinterest, ha! I’m very much looking forward to that time!), but I know I’ll be incorporating some sort of physical activity…strolls with Baby P, maybe start BBG, get back into the gym…lots of options! Also, we just ordered a treadmill, so I’m super excited about being able to workout in the house while our little guy naps!

Loving The New Adidas Sneakers

Hey gals, how was your weekend? I spent mine outdoors and it was LOVELY! If you’ve been reading my blog entries lately, you’ll have likely seen this one chatting about 9 things I didn’t expect when it came to pregnancy…and my lack of exercise motivation was definitely something I didn’t see coming, especially into the second trimester! I’ve felt like dead weight for the majority of my pregnancy and it wasn’t until last week that I really forced myself to get over the “tired” hurdle, pop in my headphones and listen to a Freakonomics podcast (my favorite), and start MOVING. My goal is nothing rigorous, but rather to keep my heart rate up and go on a 40 minute walk, twice a day. Breathe in the fresh air, leave my to-do list (and the dogs haha) behind, and get in some quality “me time.” Truth be told, my quickest pace is an 18-minute mile (…god bless haha, ah!). I’m definitely waddling along, but I am out there and feeling so proud of myself!! I’ve walked four to five miles per day for the last five days…y’all…that’s BIG in my world right now haha!

9 Things I Didn’t Know About Pregnancy

livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-lifestyle-mom-blogger-10-things-know-about-pregnancy-unexpected**Illustration by Kimberlee Watson

Hey friends! How’s your week been? I couldn’t happier that it’s FRIDAY – YAY! In other news, we got a new puppy this week (more to love around here, right?! Printy fam = kinda a circus lately and we are ALL about it, ha!). Here’s a pic from my IG if you haven’t seen her yet…her name is Lulu and we are in love…Watson isn’t so sure yet, but we have faith they’ll be best friends soon enough!

More personal news: I am 21 weeks along in my pregnancy, the baby is 11 inches long and each foot is about the size of a paper clip (!!)…and I am feeling baby kicks whenever I slow down and sit for longer than five minutes at a time. Those little kicks are completely magical and surreal! Also – I started getting charley horses in my legs while sleeping this week…OMG WHAT. Apparently this is extremely common…which brought to me write this post because I have learned SO MANY THINGS about pregnancy that I feel like no one told me beforehand. All the “you’re glowing!” comments might be true for some, but for me there’s been some rather tough moments I had no idea were headed my way. Then again, if that “glow” people see is simply happiness being emitted given a new baby on the way, regardless that I have teen acne all over my forehead, well then, I’m definitely “glowing.” Maybe in the third trimester all the funky physical things will subside and that “glow” will finally make an appearance – or at least I’ll feel more like myself and less “I want to hide in my house and wear sweatpants all day.” 😉 Until then, I am still living in comfy clothing, testing out a whole lot of concealer brands and mustering all the strength in my being to take a 20 minute walk around the block…ha!

Be More Human – Join The Movement

livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-workout-outfit-be-more-human-reebok-joggers-6livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-workout-outfit-be-more-human-reebok-joggers-7
If there’s one thing that makes me stronger and mentally prepares me to tackle any challenge ahead, it’s routinely doing something active. Makeup off, hair pulled back, sneakers tied and ready to break a sweat! Whether I’m jamming to music that gets me pumped up, listening to a podcast that resonates and gives me a boost of positive energy, or simply brainstorming goals and feeling extra motivated work towards them (anyone else love that “me time” thinking when exercising?)…there’s just something about getting physical that brings out our best self. Feeling good starts from the inside out, and I’m loving Reebok’s new Be More Human movement to support that sentiment. Once laced up, where will these shoes take me? Both mentally and physically – the possibilities are endless when we stay inspired!
