Early bird gets the worm…and the best view without the crowd! Blake and I both had intense work weeks, so the first thing on our minds for the weekend was to get outside and soak in some fresh air. We’ve been glued to our computers lately, so it was a very welcome break to swap my jeans for ultra comfy leggings + a breezy oversized tee and enjoy time at the 360 Overlook, a hike that overlooks the beloved 360 Bridge and Lake Austin here in town. Now that this city has an ever-expanding population, we’ve realized to soak up our old stomping grounds without a crowd of people, you’ve got to get up early…which also kind of kicks us into high gear to seize the day just as the sun comes out! One of my favorite things about Austin is how outdoor friendly the city is…there’s always a nature-filled place you can go to clear your head and reset – and this weekend is all about hitting that reset button!
When it comes to getting dressed to be outside and on the go, comfort is key. Which is why my go-to retailer for outdoor clothing, gear and accessories is hands down, Backcountry. If y’all haven’t noticed by now, I am obsessed!! Not only is their customer service truly outstanding, but their selection of brands is incredible (Free People, Patagonia, Birkenstock, North Face, TEVA…and a TON more).
I’ve gushed about how soft and (seriously!) amazing Beyond Yoga leggings are, and this pair is no exception…they are SO wonderful! I love the high rise fit, it’s always super flattering and also looks great with a crop top. I recommend ordering a size up (I am usually a XS in most leggings, but wear a small in Beyond Yoga). I paired the leggings with a North Face sports bra – how cute is that strappy back?! (I went with the XS in the bra…and as you can see, probably should have done a small haha). That perfectly oversized tee is by Free People and you neeeeed this in your closet!! It’s perfect for a brisk hike and also looks cute front-tucked into high rise cutoff denim shorts for the summer. I’m wearing a medium for reference. But also… can we talk about that mini BACKPACK?! This is my third Fjallraven backpack and I am basically collecting all the colors at this point…I can’t get enough of this brand! When we went to Japan, these backpacks were everywhere and I was even more inspired to expand my collection. They’re weatherproof and hold all of your essentials – the mini held our camera, my wallet, phone, bottle of water, etc. Lastly, those Birkenstocks…you can never have too many, ya know? 😉 And yes, my shoe wardrobe is 80% Birkenstocks at this point…happiest feet around, ha!
After Blake and I broke a sweat with this one, we grabbed coffee and breakfast tacos at our favorite coffeehouse. Needless to say, it was a morning very well spent and we are both already feeling reenergized. Luckily for us, we’ve got another day in the weekend to do it all over again. 😉
What’s your go-to way to get outside and reset? I’d love to know – feel free to share in the comments below! Wishing you all a lovely, restful weekend. XO
