Last week was below freezing temperatures, this week is 70s and sunny. Austin, you always keep us guessing! I’ll admit, hiding inside for a week straight was definitely not good for my brain…I felt so yucky mentally and physically. When we finally got a day of sunshine, I knew I needed to take full advantage…and it felt SO good.
Holiday shopping is in FULL swing and if you’re like me and have a to-do list a mile long on top of crossing everyone off your list…well then, I have some very exciting news for you! With a Walmart+ membership, you can receive free delivery from your local store on orders $35+ (restrictions apply) AND Walmart+ free shipping, no order minimum (excludes oversized/freight & Marketplace items) with free next-day and two-day shipping (and more, but I’ll get to that shortly!). With an infant and a toddler, this is MAJOR given that my free time is nonexistent and attempting a store run with both in tow is asking for a meltdown in the car (me, not them, ha!). Here’s how Walmart+ is making my life (and yours!) so much easier…
With the holidays in full swing, making time for myself has been very…tricky…to say the least! Blake and I juggle kiddos and work and house projects…the list goes on and on. When I’m feeling the weight of my responsibilities and the overwhelm of life starts hitting too hard, that’s when I know I need to get outside and hit the reset button. Just a simple walk around the block can work wonders, but this week I had Blake watch the boys so I could get a couple hours to myself and go hike around the Austin greenbelt with my sister. It was so beautiful out and I came back home feeling energized, happy and ready to tackle my day ahead (…the coffee run on our way home helped, too, ha!). I know firsthand it can feel intimidating when winter weather is right outside your door – but with the proper gear to keep you warm and comfortable, that mid-week hike may just become routine. 😉
Life with an infant and toddler means staying home a LOT. Like, pretty much 24/7. Jude is active from six in the morning until 8pm (not even joking, he is a wild man, ha!), so we spend loads of time in our backyard! Honestly, what sold us on our new house was the backyard…we knew we’d want to have space for the boys to run around, play and get all their energy out. It was the best decision we’ve ever made…we basically live back here from sunrise to sunset! And like most folks in the time of Covid, spending more time at home has simply been a must. As the weather changes and temperatures drop, I’m reaching for cozy layers and weather-proof shoes to keep me warm – and to keep up with my lil man as I chase him all over the yard!
Our little dude is on the MOVE! Not sure Jude has it in him to stop for a photo anymore, ha! We love watching him grow and feel out his coordination…it’s amazing how quickly he went from walking to climbing to running…and we are all for him getting those wiggles out. Now that Ezra has joined the fam, our morning wakeup call is around 6:30am. While at first it was a struggle (more coffee, please!), now we make a point to seize the day and take advantage of getting out while the rest of the city is still waking up. Zilker Park is usually packed with dogs, workout groups and people in general…so getting there before the rest of the city has its perks, like a good parking spot and the lawn all to ourselves! read more
I can finally say it: we’re in the home stretch! Currently 38 weeks over here doing my best to stay calm, comfortable and as active as I possibly can. Two days ago the word to describe this stage of pregnancy would have been “miserable” haha ah! (Hey, when you’ve reached the stuffed sausage feeling of pregnancy, I give full complaining rights, ha!). But today is a new day and after a morning walk on a nearby neighborhood trail, I am feeling energized, less achy and overall, content. I know I’m a broken record with this mindset, but getting outside and breaking a sweat (even if waddling at snail pace, like me) really can do wonders on your mental and physical state. Pregnancy is not easy, but something as simple as a daily walk can make a HUGE difference in how your feel!
Nothing like time outside (…and near water, it’s HOT in Austin!) to help revive my soul during the monotony of quarantine life. The days seem to blend together when we are doing the same thing day in and day out, which is why a morning at the lake was exactly what we needed this week. Plus, it felt SO good to throw on a bikini (this one is seriously amazing) and just let my belly soak up some much needed sunshine…and probably the rest of my body, too, ha! Anyone notice that shorts tan? 😉
First off, a big slow clap to all the amazing dads out there! Father’s Day is around the corner and in our family, Blake sure is deserving of a day dedicated to celebrating HIM! To help prep for this special day, I’ve asked our favorite guy to share 10 “Blake-approved” gift ideas! These range in price from $25 to $200, but most are on the more affordable end. We hope you find something extra special for the dads in your life! read more
Anyone else loving the tie dye trend lately? From cozy oversized sweatshirts, to cute little crop tops (I ordered this one for post-pregnancy, it’s adorable + the reviews are awesome) and comfy lounge pants and accessories (those bandanas!), tie dye is having a moment and I am here for it. Urban Outfitters has a killer selection of tie dye options, so I wanted to share some of my favorites for y’all to scope out and enjoy…
Ohh these precious moments at home! We have LIVED on our back patio since the quarantine began. If Jude could stay outside aaaall day, I’m pretty sure he would, ha. We’ve been lucky to have mild summer weather lately, which means it’s the perfect time to throw on a breezy linen dress and do a little gardening. Blake finished up the vegetable planters at the very edge of our backyard, and I’ve had fun keeping the plants on our patio hydrated and thriving. Also…I never knew just how entertaining a watering pale is to a 15 month old…Jude is in HEAVEN! That big gummy smile was killing us! Though we’ve got our ups and downs like everyone else during our stay-at-home time, we sure are soaking up this time with our little man…and making memories like these sure fills my heart!
