Soo, in mid-November just a few months back, I had the absolute pleasure of working with an amazing company called Silver Jeans Co. (you’ve likely seen their adorable jeans and other denim goods at Macy’s or Dillard’s) and they flew me out Laguna Beach (where they have a U.S. office, but they’re headquartered in Canada) to be a part of their spring ’16 social media campaign. (Yes, definitely a major highlight of my blogger career!)…and it was a total whirlwind of non-stop video & photo shoots for 3 days straight (which you likely saw on Snapchat if you followed me then)…and I am SO excited to see all of this hard work come to life! My mom was my +1 for the trip and they treated her like gold, too…always a major win in my book when MamaWat gets the princess treatment! 😉 We actually celebrated my mom’s 60th birthday while we were in Laguna and got to treat ourselves to some fine dining and a glass of vino overlooking the water at sunset… aka, the whole experience was magical and such a wonderful trip overall! Side note: if you’re on the hunt for a low-key, stunning, beachfront place to visit, I highly recommend Laguna Beach…if I had a billion dollars (and could pack up my whole family with me) I would absolutely love to live there haha. Definitely a must-visit, in my opinion – it reminded me a lot of Santa Fe, NM with all of the art galleries and the “small city,” luxurious feel – but swap the mountains for the ocean. Needless to say, it’s a lovely and beautiful place.
..Alright, back to this post! 😉 Rather than feature a standard outfit blog post, I thought it would be fun to share bits and pieces from some the photo shoots we did, and of course, give you the full scoop on my outfit details! I worked with their marketing team (two amazing young ladies, Emily and Tamara) and our incredible photographer, Errison Lawrence Photography (…he had just shot the poster image for the latest Kevin Hart tour…aka, this guy is amazing!).
^^the SJC gals! (I had to practice driving this car around in a parking lot before we took it out on the Pacific Coast Highway, ha! This was snapped during the “test drive” period..)
The first day we ventured over to the actual spring ’16 campaign photo shoot at Crystal Cove, a stunning beachfront spot along the coastline. Silver Jeans Co. brought me on board to help be a part of their social media campaign for this new collection (so I’ll be featured in their blog posts (you can read my preliminary 5-question interview here, it was a fun one!)/Instagram/Facebook, etc., from now until June…pretty incredible!), but they had actual models on set for ad photos and all that good stuff!
Aside from the photos I’ll show you in this post, we also had some fun with a few DIY posts – featuring “how-to” hair tutorials (excited for this one, it’s sooo pretty) and another fun cocktail DIY that went live two days ago, so definitely check out that post here. During my time with the SJC team, we shot a couple of videos.. Eek, can’t wait for those to come out, too! (I don’t normally do video haha soo..my apologies in advance if it’s super awkward! 😉 )
I’m gonna go ahead and let the photos tell the story of spring to summer adventures in Laguna and beyond. From waking up in the cutest boutique hotel room (and jumping for joy, apparently), to road tripping along the Pacific Coast Highway in a ridiculously cool vintage Mustang convertible (holy hell, still pinching myself that I got to drive that thing!), to saddling up a horse and going for a ride and finally, ending the day at the coolest local record store to pick out a few new albums (…er, I totally reached for Adele and Taylor..ha!), let’s just say we got in a full-on season of adventures into just a few days of shooting and I am so excited to tell this free-spirit, happy-go-lucky, Silver Jeans Co. Spring campaign story…
^^ Seriously, CUTEST boutique hotel ever! My mom and I stayed at Laguna Beach House Hotel and the SJC team shot some fun videos and more cute photos early in the morning on our last day. No joke, it was literally 7am when this was snapped, ha! Let’s just say I had coffee at like 5am as I curled my hair… 😉 Needless to say, I was ready to take on the day!
^^If I could go back to a moment in time and relive it (well, aside from Blake proposing to me haha), it would be getting to stop at this curve in the road, admire the insanely beautiful view, while leaning up against a killer car I’d never get the chance to drive otherwise, wearing a super fabulous pair of jeans (like seriously…I don’t take “booty” photos and I totally said yes when I put these on haha!) and laughing with the SJC team as I felt completely ridiculous posing for photos as a hundred cars drove past. Way outside my comfort zone and yet a moment I’ll treasure forever. Needless to say, it’s not everyday I get to do something like this!
^^Given that the “Silver Jeans Co.” gal is very adventurous, we opted for some horseback riding after shooting a look with the Mustang. Not going to lie, I was absolutely terrified (horses are a LOT bigger than I remember, ha!) but once I got a little more comfortable on the horse, everything fell into place. I am loving the bright plaid light-weight button up with a pair of jeans and some fringe booties. It’s comfortable yet laid back, exactly the vibe we were going for during this portion of the shoot.

^^Okay had to toss this one in there because this is BEET flavored ice cream that they freeze right in front of you with liquid nitrogen…seriously SO cool to watch and even better to eat! 😉 Loving the color combo with that cute top and distressed skinnies. After horseback riding we needed a sweet pick-me-up at the cutest little ice cream shop called A La Minute along the town square in Orange, CA…which is about 20 minutes outside of Laguna and home to a university.^^Our final stop was at the most awesome and hippie-ish record store called Sound Spectrum along the main street in Laguna Beach. The owner of the store was SO awesome and friendly, you could tell this store is his pride and joy. Truth be told I felt like I was back in Austin while in this shop…we all loved it and had a ton of fun with this part of the shoot! …Not to mention we were completely delirious by the time these photos were snapped haha!
The Silver Jeans Co. team is working on some video edits as we speak and I can’t wait to share those with you all once they’re ready to go! This was just a magical experience and I can’t say enough amazing things about not only the team I worked with, but y’all…seriously their jeans and tops are SO CUTE (…as you can see, ha!) and everything is such a great price point – I highly recommend the flattering and high quality denim!
That’s a wrap on this post, gals! Next time I’ll share some separate outfit posts and the videos…eek, can’t wait – hope you enjoyed!! In the meantime, check out the full spring line by Silver Jeans Co.!
^^…Had to finish this post strong with some super behind-the-scene snaps I saved from my Snapchats during the trip. Love my mama and was so glad we got to enjoy Laguna together! Ps. Is she not the cutest?!
