livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-austin-texas-fashion-style-blogger-eileen-fisher-toms-shoes-denim-on-denim-summer-style-2First off….these jeans are JUST $7! Trust me, they are awesome – I wear mine all the time! (No really, just ask my co-workers ha!). I went shopping for jeans a few months back and bought a pair of Lucky Brand jeans for over $100, then stopped into Forever21 to scope out their selection and I found these in all of their under-$10-glory. Bargain shopping FTW.

Little Striped Dress

I recently updated my Facebook cover photo to better reflect the spring/summer seasons…and as I was pulling images from my blog, I noticed there’s a certain pattern I seem to wear a lot of..stripes! From last week’s dress post (just $22 and so cute!) to this adorable backless striped tee post a few months back, it’s clear this print is here to stay…and I’m stickin’ to it!

Whether you’re dressing casually on-the-go and throwing on a pair of sneakers or roman sandals, or you’re dressing up your look with wedges and a colorful clutch (on sale!), wearing stripes is a simple way to add a playful touch to any look. Shop my favorite striped dresses of the moment (starting as low as $15!) and enjoy the versatile print for the remainder of spring and well into summer. It’s the best to buy items you can re-wear in multiple ways, and a striped dress is the perfect addition to your warm weather wardrobe!

Open Mind Open Heart: Looking for Adam

I saw this story pop up on my Feedly page while at work and had to watch the video….let me tell ya, shedding a few tears discretely at my desk just feels like the norm these days ha! I am SUCH a sucker for heartfelt anything, so even so much as a sweet photo can have me tearing up! It’s okay though, my department is seven girls…so they know this about me by now. 😉

Back to the point of this post though (the video below) – it’s about a son who secretly creates a video over the span of a year showcasing all of the amazing aspects of his mom in hopes she may consider getting back on the dating scene again. At the end of the video, he films himself revealing the video to his mom and her reaction when he asks if he can share this video with the world, in hopes that someone will come forward as the Adam to her Eva (her name is Eva). Her son is SO sweet and really captures her beautiful spirit and personality so perfectly, in a very genuine way and you can just feel the love he has for her. Prepare for a some happy tears, y’all.

Ps. I know Mother’s Day has passed….but we should always celebrate and appreciate our mommas! Thus, this video is right on time! 😉

Boho Decor Idea: Tribal Print Pillows

tribal-aztec-print-decor-design-throw-pillows-bedding-trendy-pattern-livvyland-blog-austin-texas-fashion-lifestyle-bloggerAlright bohemian pattern lovers out there! This post is for you. 😉 As Blake and I prepare to move into our new place (next month, eek!), I am on a quest to re-do every room. And while of course our budget does not permit me to buy loads of furniture, adding a few throw pillows here and there is one way to change the decor and vibe of a room in a less expensive way! We have a neutral sofa, so adding some color via throw pillows and trinkets here and there can really go a long way. Take a look at some other pillows I pulled below – tribal-aztec-print-decor-design-throw-pillows-bedding-trendy-pattern-livvyland-blog-austin-texas-fashion-lifestyle-blogger-2

Shop the throw pillows above, from a few of my favorite home decor spots like Urban Outfitters, West Elm and more!

Stripes & Buckled Booties

On the subject of stripes – this dress. For starters, it’s only $22 (yes, please!) and second, it’s adorable as a throw-on-and-go piece (as I chose to wear it above), or even over a swimsuit as a cute, light coverup – just nix the belt and swap the shoes for poolside sandals.

In case you’re curious, the dress doesn’t need a slip, so feel free to grab your nudie undergarments and you’re all set! It’s always nice to have that whole “…uh oh, is this dress see-through?!” peace of mind before you buy online….or walk out into direct sunlight.. ;)..so now you can rest assured! (I wore it on my Miami vacay as a beach coverup and it was great!).

My shoes are another recent obsession of mine. I’d been holding out for the perfect pair of buckled booties and when I slipped these babies on, I knew. They’re by Fortress of Inca, handmade in Peru and so comfortable I may just nix my house slippers and rock these with my PJ’s as I make my way from the bed to the coffee maker each morning! 😉

If you follow my Instagram feed, you’ll know I am a fan of layering necklaces. These two pretty pieces are by Rifle + Radford and I love how perfectly they complement one another. As for my bag – it’s my go-to boho sidekick, I’m all about a dash of fringe!

(Ps. Blake somehow captured my W tattoo just peeking out from my dress sleeve… I am quite proud of my last name and got some ink to prove it!…For those who don’t know, it’s Watson).

4 Spring Styling Tips With EILEEN FISHER

1-livvyland-blog-nordstrom-olivia-watson-eileen-fisher-new-york-crop-top-linen-skirt-tipster-event-austin-texas-fashion-blogger-style-15-livvyland-blog-nordstrom-olivia-watson-eileen-fisher-new-york-crop-top-linen-skirt-tipster-event-austin-texas-fashion-blogger-style-31-livvyland-blog-nordstrom-olivia-watson-eileen-fisher-new-york-crop-top-linen-skirt-tipster-event-austin-texas-fashion-blogger-style-83-livvyland-blog-nordstrom-olivia-watson-eileen-fisher-new-york-crop-top-linen-skirt-tipster-event-austin-texas-fashion-blogger-style-4How perfectly feminine is this crop top and high waist skirt combo? It’s modest yet flirty, and I love the silhouette it creates when walking down the street…or as you can see in the last photo, when the wind is blowing! The boxy top complements the airy linen skirt so beautifully, cutting off at the mid-section so that a peek of the cinched waist is still displayed. I love clothing brands that truly understand and appreciate showcasing the gorgeous aspects of a woman’s figure, and EILEEN FISHER just gets women! Honestly, every piece is not only stunning quality, but each item is truly designed with women in mind.

So two major exciting things happened last weekend – 1. I got engaged (eek! you can read that story in the post below this one) and 2. I had a speaking engagement with the incredible EILEEN FISHER team and Nordstrom Austin. I suppose I should let you all in on a little secret of mine, I am fairly terrified of public speaking! It’s weird because I was in theater and french club president in high school and could easily get up in front of my journalism peers in college…but sometime in the past three years this fear just crept up on me. However, when the EF team reached out to speak on their behalf at the EILEEN FISHER spring collection and style panel Tipster Event at Nordstrom, I knew it was time to conquer that fear! Truth be told, this is a brand I really stand behind and I really wanted to the opportunity to speak about a clothing designer I admire so greatly….and I wasn’t about to let 10 frogs in my throat or sweaty palms get in my way! 😉 Thus, I accepted and had a complete BLAST!

That’s Deandra and Cory next to me, they’re the fab EILEEN FISHER duo all the way from NYC to host the event! 2. Me and Cory (the EF events manager), he was too much fun! 3. Great minds think alike! 😉 Me with one of the EF runway models. 4. Snapping pictures with attendees after the event – I was tagged on Instagram with this fab guest a few hours after the showcase.
eileen-fisher-nordstrom-barton-creek-livvyland-blog-austin-fashion-style-blogger
The event showcased numerous looks from their spring collection and ended with a style panel discussing how to wear a few of the looks in “real life,” along with how to wear the pieces in other ways so as to get more than just one outfit out of an item. (For example, we chatted about this amazing dress and how I could put a chic leather jacket over it for work, then nix the jacket and pair it with fun wedges and a long necklace, then wear it again for an engagement party 😉 ). After the event wrapped up, it was clear that EILEEN FISHER has a few style tips to live by  – and I couldn’t agree more! See below:

1. Mix textures that complement each other: (as I showcase above) – the knit top with the linen skirt. It’s an unexpected combination that just works, and the rest of the spring collection also showcases mixing textures in a classic, chic way.

2. Think comfort! What do you feel best in when it comes to fashion? When you’re comfortable and feel good in your clothes, you’re more confident (not to mention happier because you simply feel more you!). Authenticity in life…and in your fashion choices is a definite do! As my mom always told me, wear your clothes – don’t let your clothes wear you.  Pick items that speak to your personal taste and style.

3. Pick what you want to showcase – when it comes to EILEEN FISHER, a styling aspect is to show pops of skin, but never too much. If your arms are out in the open, wear a pair of fabulous harem pants that show of a touch of ankle skin. Add allure to your look without showing too much at one time. Classy is always in style! 😉

4. Layer up! The crop top I am wearing above can be worn in so many ways! Over the weekend, I layered it over a maxi dress (see here), and above I layered it over a tank top with a skirt. It would also be adorable with high waist jeans, or skinny jeans and over a free flowing tank top. Think: one piece, how many ways? Choose items you can continue to layer into your wardrobe – that way your shopping money is very well spent!

Above all, have fun with your style and wear clothes that make you feel good. EILEEN FISHER envelops quality pieces, notable brand values and amazing styling possibilities – definitely take a look at their latest (and beautiful) collection at Nordstrom and shop what I am wearing from this post below.

A HUGE thank you to the EILEEN FISHER team – they were a joy to have in our beloved city, offered some incredible fashion tips AND helped me conquer my public speaking fear – with flying colors!

We’re Gettin’ Hitched! Our Story + The Proposal

blake-olivia-engagementSoo…Friday morning the most magical, blissful, (insert-any-other-ultra-happy word), thing happened. Blake asked me to marry him! Okay so for those of you who don’t know the Blake + Olivia saga that has been the latter half of my life, prepare yourselves for a story.. However, I’ll preface with this – Blake has always been the one, the love of my life, my unicorn, the only guy for me, etc. Let’s just say when we met in high school, I was 17 and he was 16…the rest is history.
