Warby Parker Class Trip – Pit Stop, Austin

1-livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-warby-parker-class-trip-yellow-bus-popup-shop-austin-texaslivvyland-blog-olivia-watson-warby-parker-class-trip-yellow-bus-popup-shop-austin-texas-1One of my best gal-pals and college roomie (I’ve known her since first grade, actually – my longest friend!), Anj, and I took a little drive around Austin this weekend and of course, wound up doing some shopping. En route to Zilker Park to take advantage of the gorgeous weather, we passed by the oh-so-adorable Warby Parker yellow school bus popup shop off Barton Springs Road and just had to stop in.

I’ve been a huge WP fan for a while now and was fortunate enough to scope out a storefront while visiting friends in NYC last year, but what a pleasure it was to have one of their cute little shops in my own city! If there was ever a perfect place for Warby Parker to open up another store, it’s definitely Austin…home to fashionistas and hipsters…or more appropriately, “hipster-fashionistas”…aka their glasses are already a hit with this city. Anj and I tried on nearly every pair on the bus – both sunnies and optical glasses. She walked away with a pair of two-tone Burke optical glasses (they are seriously perfection), while I solidified that I’d made the right choice months ago with my Lyle glasses in English Oak.

If you’re on the hunt for a new pair of inexpensive, high quality frames (sunglasses or other), definitely stop by the Warby Parker bus, open daily from 11am – 7pm! (You really can’t miss a giant yellow bus along the side of the road…). And if you don’t live in Austin or NYC, you can shop their fabulous selection online – and even try before you buy!

Check out my top picks below and shop your favorites!

Shop optical glasses: Lyle, Burke, Haskell, Winston, Percey, Owen
Shop sunglasses: Dean, Downing, Reilly, Teddy, Piper

Green Dress

livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-topshop-army-green-bodycon-dress-6So, while it’s 70 degrees in Austin, I shall dress the part! This amazing, army green body-con dress is by Topshop for Nordstrom and it’s fab-u-lous! Given that it was finally warm enough for me to throw off my scarf and jacket, I slipped into this dress and grabbed my favorite brown clutch and rose gold jewelry. (this is a size 4 (fits 0-2 US sizes) but I recommend getting a size up because it definitely hugs your body everywhere!). Oh yes, and my sunnies are Toms, also sold at Nordstrom. I always think of nail polish as another accessory, and the warmer temperatures and sunny skies just called for white nails…I know what you’re thinking, it’s mid-January and where is my oxblood or nudie polish?!  However, happy weather calls for the happiest nail color, and white just does the trick! (Even still, this dress would be gorgeous with dark nails, a black blazer, black tights and black booties – ba-bam! Winter perfection).

Fringe Fanatic

I received the black fringe cardigan from Macys and the amazing gold fringe necklace by Stella & Dot (as seen above) as gifts from my mom this Christmas and I cannot stop wearing/obsessing over them! Fringe is definitely in and it’s still popping up everywhere I turn…and I’m not complaining! I love how simply adding a touch of fringe can make an item go from cute (but fairly ordinary) to bohemian and a little edgy. I don’t know about you, but I’d certainly stop someone who was wearing any of these items and ask where they bought it!

Are you having a fringe fanatic moment, too? Shop my picks by clicking the links above and the images below!

Introducing Lilee, a (Fabulous) Lifestyle Subscription Box

livvyland-blog-lilee-austin-texas-my-beauty-tea-manatea-beauty-package
**gifted by Lilee

I am never one to get too excited about stopping to pick up the mail…I mean, aside from the mass amount of pizza coupons Blake and I receive, there’s generally never anything terribly exciting about this daily to-do. But this week was a different story because I received the cutest package filled with useful (and adorable) goodies from the fabulous ladies over at Lilee!

Lilee is a monthly subscription box filled with different hand-picked products from exceptional brands – every month! Each box is valued at over $120. For example, this month I received stationary by Rachael Creative, loose leaf tea from My Beauty Tea (yum!), a custom gold bar necklace by Jesse & Co.,  purple nail polish by Cult Cosmetics, daily moisturizer by Pur-Liss (valued at $55!) and some amazing powder makeup by Mirabella Beauty. Not to mention they added a hair mask and skin samples from HASK Beauty and H2O+ as a fun bonus for the month!

I’ve seen monthly subscription beauty and jewelry packages, but Lilee really hits on what women love from every angle. I think I may just put in a hair mask and make some delicious tea while it soaks for a bit – all thanks to Lilee!

Words of Wisdom

be truthful, gentle and fearlessSometimes you just read the perfect words at the right time and they really hit home, and that’s what happened when I stumbled upon this quote. Whether it’s me representing myself authentically on this blog and in my day-to-day life, what keeps me centered most is to stay grounded and truthful in whatever I am doing. There is beauty in vulnerability and genuineness, and people can see that and appreciate it. I’ll admit, this one is a good reminder for me to focus on maintaining a positive sense of self in this great world of comparison – so long as I stay true to who I am, show kindness and patience towards others (and myself!) and pursue my goals without regard for failures I may encounter along the way.

Perhaps this one speaks to you, too. Happy Friday, y’all!

sweater – macy’s / jeans – forever21 / boots (similar) – neiman’s last call / sunglasses – toms / necklace (similar) – accessory concierge

Good news…this Denim & Supply by Ralph Lauren fringe sweater is now on sale at Macy’s! My mom has shopped at Macy’s my whole life, but I seem to have missed this boat up until recently…and now it’s one of my very favorite stores! Honestly, they have the cutest stuff – especially anything and everything by Denim & Supply, like this tribal print + fringe sweater.

I paired the sweater with a pair of acid wash denim jeans from Forever21. These are probably my favorite jeans I own at the moment (psst…they’re under $20!) because I feel a little rough and tough when I wear them. I rocked my ol’ trusty flat black boots (they’re from Neiman’s ages ago but have lasted forever!), so I pulled a few options if you’re on the hunt for a great pair of semi-biker-ish boots (see below). Finally, I accessorized with Tom’s Sunglasses and a layered turquoise necklace. Hello, casual coolgirl style! Enjoy a few sale items and shop my look with the links above & images below!

5 Things That Happened in 2014

livvyland-blake-and-olivia-christmas-austin-texas-blogger-2014What a craaazy year it’s been! Honestly, 2014 was by far my biggest year of life changes thus far (if you read this list you’ll understand why!). This handsome, silly, perfect guy above (Blake) has been more than incredible and made 2014 overwhelmingly wonderful, despite some not so wonderful other life happenings along the way. Blake and I dated in high school (first loves, yada yada) and we got back together in 2013 (hey, dreams do come true! Yes yes I’m a cheeseball but if you know how much and low long I’ve cared about him, it’s really the truth), but, 2014 is special because we moved in together! We went out to dinner last night and both said our best and worsts of 2014, and we both said that moving in together was part of our top picks. Coming home to your best friend and the one person who can always make you laugh? Not to mention the infinite cuddles? Win! (Ps. Blake, if you’re reading this, sorry for the sappiness above…couldn’t help myself!)
livvyland-caffe-medici-austin-texas-new-years-resolutions-austin-bloggerIf you read my coffee/espresso post from last week, you’d have read that I worked at Caffe Medici (the cutest little button of a coffeehouse here in Austin) for about a month over the summer. This past June, I had been working for Kendra Scott Jewelry in marketing for nearly two years when I finally decided to leave the company. This decision had been weighing on me for quite some time and it just felt like the right time to move forward. Life is short. Be brave and follow your heart. Walking away gave me time to invest in my blog and allowed me to pursue some other opportunities I’d always wanted to try…like working at a coffeehouse! (Something forever on my bucket list). Given that I had zero coffee background (and Austin is filled with crazy talented baristas), I was so incredibly fortunate to have worked for such a prestigious Austin shop as my first coffee gig! Although another full-time job opportunity came shortly after I began with Caffe Medici, I cannot say enough amazing things about the lovely environment, beautiful coworkers and the sweetest customers I met along the way. Truly, this job restored my faith in healthy and happy workplaces and I will always appreciate it.

livvyland-blog-logo-latte-art-illustration-kimberlee-olivia-watson-fashion-lifestyle-blog-austin-texasAs I’ve mentioned, a major part of 2014 for me was starting this blog! As you can see above, these were some of my logo options – illustrated by my talented sister! She is an amazing artist and came up with the latte art logo concept and painted a few options for me to choose from. It was pretty awesome to watch her in action, she has two kiddos (ages 2 and 1), so I went over and watched them so she could get away for an hour and paint. She was still in the same room, just barricaded off to the side. Her two littles would climb up on the sofa and both peek their heads over the edge and watch in awe as their mom worked her magic. It was adorable! I am so fortunate to have such willing and talented folks so close to me. I love that this blog is filled with friends and family who support me, it makes every detail that much more meaningful.
livvyland-blog-long-short-haircut-austin-texas-fasion-bloggerOoh la la, I chopped 10 inches off my hair and went blonde! It was time for a change, ya know? So happy I did it, this new do just feels more “me” at the moment! If you live in Austin and are on the hunt for a brilliant hair stylist, call mine! (Ask for Shannon). She’s a hair genius and so much fun to chat with throughout your visit.livvyland-blog-photographers-laura-morsman-kayla-snell-austin-texas-olivia-watson-new-york-city-1Who are these gorgeous folks? They’re some of the fashion photographers behind Livvyland! This blog has given me the opportunity to meet so many passionate and creative fashion-lovers and artists near and far, and each of these people above has been a major component in achieving the Livvyland aesthetic you see today.  Benjamin Stelly, Kayla Snell, Laura Morsman and Corbin Chase – thank you all! I am so grateful for your beautiful work and styling collaborations we’ve done together. It’s been a joy meeting Laura and Kayla since starting this blog and to watch their photography careers reach new heights in Austin. As for the guys, they’re based in NYC but come into Austin over holidays – I love shooting with old friends who are both so hilarious and talented!
(See my fashion posts with each here: Benjamin, Kayla, Laura, Corbin).

What a year for me! I just want to thank everyone for their support and kind words along the way. It’s been such a blessing for me to have this outlet and meet likeminded and inspirational people because of it. So, thank you for following along! I look forward to what 2015 has in store!
